Brand New Single "YaYa" Delivers Spellbinding Rhythms and Explosive Harmonies - New Single from Aphrose

Fresh off the successful release of her first single of 2023 titled "Good Love", Aphrose has just released a brand new, sensational up-tempo track titled "YaYa" on Friday, July 7 2023.

With its glittery, Roller-Soul groove, Aphrose's latest single "YaYa" glowingly personifies the feeling of being in love. The feel-good, uptempo song features an inescapable rhythm that envelopes listeners in exuberant harmonies, celebratory lyrics, and a flourishing melody. Given the classic Aphrose treatment, "YaYa" is notably infused with styles from different music eras, uniting 70's Soul, 80's Roller-Disco, and 90's House vocal harmonies. A love song that steers clear of the negatives in relationships, "YaYa" focuses on joyful infatuation, using universal elements that include the sun, moon, stars, and gravity to paint the picture of a feeling as brilliant as the night sky. Featuring instrumentation by production trio SafeSpaceship, "YaYa" features Scott McCannell on bass, synth, and drum programming, Chino DeVilla on drums, synth, and drum programming and Ben Macdonald on keys and synth. With the funky bounce of the bass, shimmering keyboards, and the intricate vintage timbre of the drums, "YaYa" is a standout, sticky and sweet masterpiece that feels as good as it sounds.

“YaYa was like a tonic in the recording process. As opposed to unpacking generational trauma or the challenges of relationships, we just had fun. This song is about feeling so enamoured with a love that being with them defies space, time, even gravity, and makes you feel as if you’ve been transported to another dimension.”  - APHROSE

With her unbelievable vocal range, 70's Soul era informed sound, and captivating rhythms, Canadian artist, Aphrose, (Joanna Mohammed) delivers Neo-Soul at its very best. Her dazzling, modern take on R&B and Soul features the authenticity of interactive live instruments with untouched vocal dexterity that nearly personify her sound. After Canadian legend Chantal Kreviazuk heard her on the radio, she reached out to Aphrose directly and invited her to open for her and husband Raine Maida's Moon vs. Sun tour. Along with singing backup for Daniel Caesar, Lee Fields & The Expressions, Jessie Reyez, and Charlotte Day Wilson, Aphrose has been featured in Exclaim!, on CBC Music's First Play along with The Block, and has been reviewed in Earmilk. With her music now being played across the United States as well as Canada, Aphrose is making her unique mark in the Canadian Neo-Soul landscape, delivering the highest caliber music with out-of-this-world vocals, impeccable production, and unforgettable melodies that transport listeners to a different realm.

Aphrose’s sophomore album, Roses, is slated to be released in the Fall of 2023.

Aphrose shares, "It combines all the sounds I love and is a love letter to my family and where I come from. Throughout the record, there is audio of my (late) grandmother Rose speaking/praying that was isolated from old hi8 home video tapes, and the title single that will be released Roses, is a tribute to her. I'm excited about this body of work because it feels really honest and is exactly the music I want to make right now."
