EVELYN JESS RELEASES 9-TRACK ALBUM WITH SHOW AT PLAY ON GOWER

"A Mothers Love is a Blessing".

Evelyn Jess was born Jessica Evelyn Bemister. She was named after her Grandmother Evelyn, who passed when Jess was just 7 years old. Years later when thinking of a stage name, Jess chose to take her Grandmother's name first as a tribute to her legacy. Now each time the name appears in lights it will be a shining reminder of her loving memory and joyous spirit. Grandmother Evelyn appreciated Mother's Day. It was always her favorite time of year mainly because her birthday fell in the same week. Therefore no other day seemed more fitting for a celebration than that of the wonderful woman's birthday - May 13th.

This passed Mother's Day Weekend - Evelyn Jess certainly did her grandmother proud and lived up to her name with her debut album release concert. She was joined by excellent opening acts Spectrum Queer Choir and Members of Strong Harbour strings, with proceeds from the vent going towards each groups future programming. Audio services were provided by Matt Dines of Hurricane Music.

Bare Bones is a 9 song album, featuring 8 original compositions and an ambitious cover of Figgy Duff's "Weather Out The Storm" recorded with the blessing of Pamela Morgan.

The songs were recorded by Canadian Gold Record awarded engineer Krisjan Leslie and feature an all star cast of Newfoundland musicians including Sandy Morris (Wonderful Grand Band), Mark Hiscock of (Shanneyganock), and ECMA winners Natasha Blackwood and Rozalind MacPhail - just to name a few!

For the time being, Bare Bones will not be released on streaming platforms in full and will only be available for purchase on CD as a complete album from Atlantic Music Store Online and select local retailers such as Fred's Records.

To date, Evelyn Jess has released four advance music video and streaming singles from the anticipated Bare Bones record releasing May 13th, 2023. The remaining 5 tracks from the album will remain "offline" until each are released as music video singles in collaboration with local filmmakers Roger Maunder & Tom Cochrane.
