MIKE FISHER ANNOUNCES NEW RECORD DIARY OF A PSYCHIC VAMPIRE
MIKE FISHER, one of Newfoundland & Labrador’s pioneers of punk, is keeping the spirit of rock alive with his second solo record Diary of Psychic Vampire (available April 21, 2023 on CD, Bandcamp and streaming platforms). Fisher describes a Psychic Vampire as “a person that drains you of mental energy and brings you down with their presence”, no doubt we can all relate.
Fisher’s brand of progressive punk seeks to push the boundaries of previous generations of loud music, while maintaining accessibility to the mainstream audience. The album was self-produced by Fisher and mixed and mastered by Krisjan Lesie of The Lab of Chaos in St. John’s, NL (Long Distance Runners, The Kubasonics, The Once). The album was made possible with the support of ArtsNL through the Professional Projects Grant Program.
Fisher will hit the road this spring in support of the record with a live band featuring St. John’s stalwarts drummer Bob Davis and bassist Jeff White. Fans will remember Jeff White as half of Hammingwell, the blues group that earned Fisher & White two MusicNL Album of the Year nominations in the ‘00s. The trio will make stops in Gander and Carboner in May before hosting two hometown shows at Fred’s Records and The Ship in St. John’s in June.
